EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

  • The following report and recommendation relate to the proposal by Dannybliss Integrated Agro Enterprise to embark on quality maize Production using hybrid seeds that are climate tolerance and resistant to striga weeds
  • The project is aim at using climate-smart agricultural practice through precision farming method for the maize cultivation,
  • The project is targeted to fill the five million maize demand gap in Nigeria and as well to create jobs opportunity for youth.
  • The plan maize cultivation project will be grown in 10 hectares of farm land with two season  production cycle at production yield of 120 tons annually
  • The project would require a start-up investment of ten thousands dollars  which will be used for fixed capital and working capital to carry out the farming operation and scale-up investment of fifty thousand dollar
  •     The financial projection shows that, the yearly sales turn-over of the maize production is ₦9,750,000 as shown in the profit and loss. And the yearly net profit for the maize cultivation project is 3,500,000
  • Therefore, from the point of analysis on this business, the maize cultivation project is found to be technically feasible, financially viable and economically desirable.

 

The climate-smart/resilience component of this project that help adapt to climate change impact are:

(1) The use of hybrid seeds that withstands water stress and maintain yields in dry condition

(2) The use of Sat2farm Precision platform that monitor the farm management and provide climate information

(3) The practice of conservation agriculture for no-tillage
